WASHINGTON, February 12. /TASS./ The national Directorate of the USA on Aeronautics and space research (NASA) will receive $50 million to study the possibility to send an automatic station to Mars with the purpose of obtaining samples of the soil. This is evidenced by the draft Federal budget of the United States for the 2019 fiscal year, released Monday by the White house.

As noted in this document, the US administration supported plans to send to Mars “the next Rover, which will launch presumably in 2020”. “In addition, the budget includes the allocation of $50 million to consider the possibility of returning from Mars geological samples that has long been a high priority scientific goal and the cornerstone of future exploration of Mars”, — stated in the request of the us government, aimed at the consideration of Congress.

It also reports that the current Executive branch of the U.S. government decided to abandon the project of creating a new orbital telescope, which was to operate in the infrared (WFIRST), because of its high cost.

If this confirmed the intention to continue to develop sverkhzvukovom plane (X-plane), first flight of which is planned for 2021.

Finally, the draft budget is referred to the desire to support the plans of private American companies on starting in 2022 “space tug”.
