In Papua New Guinea evacuated the island because of a volcano eruption

MOSCOW, 7 Feb — RIA Novosti. Government of Papua New Guinea evacuated about 600 people living on volcanic island of Cadaver after the eruption of the eponymous volcano, according to new Zealand radio station Radio New Zealand, citing the local administration.

The volcano started to show signs of activity on Friday, throwing the ashes. By mid-Sunday activity has increased. The last time the signs of activity of the volcano was seen 40 years ago.

Authorities evacuated local residents on neighboring Islands. The volcanological Observatory in Rabaul recommended that the boats and ships not to approach the island. Now, according to some, about 50% of the area of Cadavra covered by lava.

Island Kadavar, a width of two kilometres, is 40 kilometres North-West of the island of Manam. In 2004, the authorities evacuated it because of a volcanic eruption.
