VTSIOM: third of respondents believe that the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was necessary

The opposite view is held by 42% of respondents.

MOSCOW, February 15. /TASS/. Three-quarters of Russians polled by the all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion (VTSIOM), know about the war in Afghanistan 1979-1989, with almost a third of respondents considers justified, the introduction of Soviet troops into this country. The relevant data of the study is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the end of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, is polls on Friday.

Know and remember

According to the materials of the survey available to TASS, 77% of respondents know about the war, and the greatest proportion of them (43%) heard about the events from witnesses, and almost one in ten (9%) reported that he was a witness to them. Another 25% of respondents who know about the war in Afghanistan, explained that he had read about her. 22% of the survey participants admitted that they did not know or know little about this conflict.
