Prize of the President of the Russian Federation for young scientists was awarded for a breakthrough in mathematics and the study of insects
In particular, the winners were the staff of the Institute of atmospheric optics named after V. E. Zuev, Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yevgeny Gorlov Viktor Zharkov.
MOSCOW, February 5. /TASS/. Prize of the President of the Russian Federation in the field of science and innovations for young scientists for the 2018 awarded to Russian researchers for the creation of breakthrough computational technologies for the solution of multidimensional problems, the development of a new method for remote detection of explosives, the discovery of new mechanisms of resistance of insect pests and for the study of the characteristics of the nervous system. This was announced Tuesday at a press conference in TASS, the Russian presidential aide Andrei Fursenko.
“The winners of President’s prize in science and innovation for young scientists for the year 2018 were members of the Institute of atmospheric optics named after V. E. Zuev, Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Evgeny Gorlov Viktor Zharkov. They have been awarded awards “for the development and implementation of lidar method for remote detection of explosives,” — said Fursenko.
In addition, the winners became Ekaterina Gribanova from the Novosibirsk state agrarian University. The award marked her discovery of new mechanisms of resistance of insect pests of agriculture and forestry to the bio insecticides based on Bacillus thuringiensis.
The representative of the National scientific center of marine biology named after A.V. Zhirmunsky far Eastern branch RAS (Vladivostok) Vyacheslav Dyachuk received the award for the discovery of new mechanisms of development of nervous systems in invertebrates and vertebrates.
The winner of the award also became a fellow of the SKOLKOVO Institute of science and technology Ivan Oseledets. It was awarded for the creation of breakthrough computational technologies for the solution of multidimensional problems of physics, chemistry, biology, data analysis based on tensor decompositions.
President prize in science and innovation for young scientists, established in 2008, is awarded for significant contribution to the development of Russian science, development of new equipment and technology, providing innovative development of economy and social sphere, as well as strengthening the country’s defense. Its purpose is to stimulate further research and the creation of favourable conditions for new scientific discoveries. The size of each prize is 2.5 million rubles.
