Medvedev dismissed the head of the Federal tourism Agency Oleg Safonov

MOSCOW, February 5. /TASS/. The head of the government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev has signed the order about dismissal of the head of the Federal tourism Agency Oleg Safonov, reported the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The theme of development of internal tourism in Russia was discussed last week at a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with government members, and on Monday the meeting of Medvedev with Deputy Prime Ministers. Then the head of the Cabinet of Ministers instructed the government office to prepare proposals on personnel to strengthen the work in this area.

“All this must be done (to develop tourism industry), to pay attention, to prioritize and effectively manage money. We in this context, decided that these issues were dealt with to a greater extent the Ministry of economic development, therefore, the management body was sent there. You need to improve the work efficiency. I would ask the government staff to prepare proposals on personnel strengthening of this Department,” — said Medvedev.

At the same meeting Medvedev said that in the coming years is in the range of 21 billion rubles for the development of tourism infrastructure in the regions of the Russian Federation.

Safonov was born in 1969, graduated from the State financial Academy, majoring in “Finance and credit”, then worked for several Russian banks and other organizations.

In 2014 was appointed acting head of the Federal Agency for tourism, in 2015 the head of the Federal tourism Agency.
