The Russian foreign Ministry called the vague U.S. role in Russian-Japanese dialogue

According to the official representative of the MFA of Russia Maria Zakharova, the negotiations between Moscow and Tokyo are “stacked” without the participation of Washington.

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, January 13. /TASS/. The bilateral dialogue between Russia and Japan formed without the participation of the United States, so it is unclear why Japan needs the US support in the negotiations with Russia. This is the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said in an interview to the program “Sunday evening” on TV channel “Russia-1” on Sunday.

“This build in connection with the exercise of political will of the country’s bilateral dialogue suddenly reappears in the third. And, most interestingly, we hear… amazing and bizarre statements, which makes the Japanese side on the territory of the United States… that Japan is waiting for the support of the US, almost part in the dialogue on the peace Treaty with Russia. And where is the USA? There is a bilateral dialogue that is evolving on many levels — and when it comes to bilateral dialogue, as it always is, where do the US and their role is unclear,” — said Zakharov.

On Tuesday, the special adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, Kazuyuki kawaii said, speaking in guzikowski Institute in Washington that Japan expects to support efforts to conclude a peace Treaty with Russia by the US as a means to contain China.

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe at a meeting in Singapore on 14 November 2018 agreed to intensify Russian-Japanese talks on peace Treaty based on the Joint Declaration of 19 October 1956, which refers to the termination of a state of war between the two countries restore diplomatic and consular relations.
