Icelandic artist creates unusual sculptures out of hair (photo)

Artist Hrafnhildur Arnardottir, aka the Shoplifter, long been celebrated far beyond his native Iceland. Her unusual work adorns the art galleries around the world, besides a few years ago, she collaborated with the famous singer Bjork, creating for her concert costumes and fancy accessories.

The main feature of the work Arnardottir — bright colors and unusual materials. The artist creates crazy sculptures and artificial landscapes made of real hair and faux fur, pre-painting them in different colors.

Pretty strange choice of materials Arnardottir explains his love of hair. According to the artist, the hair is a remnant of the wildlife that the human being possesses, and one of the few things that remains unchanged despite evolution and progress. In 2019 Shoplifter will represent Iceland at the Venice Biennale.
