In the state Duma commented on the UN General Assembly resolution on Transnistria
MOSCOW, June 23 — RIA Novosti. The UN General Assembly resolution calling for Russia to withdraw troops from Transnistria, apparently, prepared with the support of USA and NATO. Such opinion in conversation with RT expressed by the first Deputy head of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots Konstantin Zatulin.
In his words, to “absorb the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, need to get rid of any adverse witnesses.”

Zatulin added that representatives of some States who voted for the resolution, may not understand the situation.
“Do not understand the nature of the problem, that is actually happening, that the Russian troops have become the guarantor of non-resumption of the military conflict of 1992, some countries can vote for this reason. Or to pretend that they vote based on principles associated with the presence of someone’s troops on foreign territory,” concluded Zatulin.
On the eve of the UN General Assembly adopted Moldova proposed a draft resolution urging Russia to withdraw troops from Transnistria. The document was supported by 64 States, 14 were against, 83 abstained from voting.
Transnistria, 60% of inhabitants are Russians and Ukrainians sought to secede from Moldova even before the collapse of the USSR, fearing that on the wave of nationalism Moldova will join Romania. In 1992, after a failed attempt of the authorities of Moldova force to solve the problem, the region was virtually beyond the control of Chisinau territory.
On the territory of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic located the operational group of Russian forces (ogrf) — the successor to the 14th combined arms army which after disintegration of the USSR was transferred under the jurisdiction of Russia. The main objectives of the task force — a peacekeeping mission and the protection of warehouses with ammunition.
