I’m sure many of you have seen the breathtaking images of balloons that fly over desert and rocky terrain. Half of them are made in Cappadocia — one of the most popular places in Turkey.

This extensive historic district with a completely alien landscape composed of numerous natural canyons, poles, towers, pyramids and “mushrooms” where people formed villages and towns, many of which are underground.

On an area of almost 5 thousand square kilometers scattered ancient villages, which consist of an intricate network of rooms and tunnels. Most of them are located between the regions of Nevsehir, Kayseri and Nigde.
It is believed that this area was formed due to the first Christians, who at first hid from persecution by the Roman authorities, and then from the invasion of Muslims.
