How to repair the “path of death” (video)
For operators the most dangerous road in the world, it’s business as usual.
Thousands of tourists come annually to the city of XI’an in Chinese Shaanxi province to walk through the most dangerous and extreme Hiking trail on mount Huashan. This route, also known as the “trail of death”, only the most courageous: the road is made of narrow wooden planks attached to a cliff, and safety tether. More here there is nothing: no fences, no railings.
But if for tourists is an extreme attraction, for the seven operators of the trail, it’s business as usual.
Annually in the spring, before the opening of the season, these brave men climb to the top and literally in the hanging position repair wood road, changing plates and verify the safety cables.
Local journalists clarify that, despite the danger of such work, all workers feel confident. They grew up nearby and climb on the “path of death” for many years.
