More than a million Russians will vote not on their sites
As of February 26 of 1.16 million Russians have expressed a desire to not vote at the place of registration, and by place of residence, told RBC Deputy Chairman of the Central election Commission (CEC) Nikolai Bulaev.
“The number of those wishing to vote at the place of stay is growing very quickly,” said Mr. Bulaev noted that for five days, the number of applications increased by almost 50 thousand and continues to grow.
We will remind, on elections to the State Duma 2016 absentee ballots voted of 1.03 million Russians, nearly 1 million less than in the 2012 elections, when the residence voted to 1.97 million people, however, this record could be beaten if statements will arrive in the same amount. Meanwhile, the CEC staff count by approximately 1.5 million people, noting that not all applicants really will go to the polls.
The bill changed the procedure of voting was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin this summer. Under the new law, from January 31 to March 12, 2018, any citizen can contact the election Commission or multifunction center (MFC) at the place of stay a statement to vote in any polling station of their choice. This procedure can be performed remotely via the portal “public Services”, but only if a valid account. From 13 to 17 March (14:00) this can be done only by submitting an application and obtaining a special stamp at a polling station at the place of residence.
