The head of the RCDS criticized the decriminalization of domestic violence
The head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin considers necessary to return to the issue of the decriminalization of domestic violence, believing that the crime has moved from the streets to foster homes.
“And one more thing: a year and a half ago were made, although we were against it, the law on domestic violence. Excluded, as I understand the subject of criminal law? Here, we are already reaping violence”, — said Bastrykin on Tuesday, speaking at the Board office.

The state Duma in January last year passed a bill to transfer the first case of domestic battering from the category of criminal offences into the category of administrative offences. The second and subsequent occurrences of domestic violence will be criminal offences.
Speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that when formulating the position on the draft law on the decriminalization of small, family-beating, the deputies were guided by the concern for the preservation of strong families and opinion polls, according to which almost 60% of Russians support the lenient attitude to the conflicts in the family without health consequences.
