MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS./ The defense Ministry sent a request Turkey’s assistance in obtaining all of the wreckage of the su-25 shot down in Syria. This was reported on Tuesday in the Russian defense Ministry.
“The Russian defense Ministry sent a request to the Turkish side to assist in getting all the debris of the Russian su-25 shot down by terrorists on 3 February from MANPADS airspace over the Syrian province of Idlib”, — stated in the message.
The defense Ministry also hopes to establish on the balance of the engine su-25 was shot down in Syria, the place of production used by terrorists portable anti-aircraft missile system and channels it is sent to the country.
“Of particular interest to experts, the Russian defense Ministry are the remains of the engines of the Russian assault, with traces of fire impact of the missile for accurate identification of MANPADS used by terrorists, the establishment of the place of its production and identify the channels of supply to Syria”, — reported in the military.
As previously reported, on February 3 over the area of de-escalation “Idlib” in the same Syrian province of MANPADS was shot down by a Russian su-25 under the control of the major Roman Filipov. The pilot managed to eject, and later on the ground took an unequal battle with the terrorists. Being surrounded by rebels, Filipov blew himself up with a grenade.
The pilot presented the title of Hero of Russia posthumously.
