Iranian women protesting against the hijab for the first time in 40 years

In Iran, the movement is a single of the protests against the hijab. On Monday 29 January, several women with uncovered heads climbed up on the transformer box in the streets of Tehran, waving wound on a stick with shawls like flag. This is the first of any mass action against the compulsory wearing of a headscarf since the revolution of 1979.

The first such action occurred in December, the activist who dared to take this step, is a 31-year-old kind of Movahed, the mother of seventeen-month-old girl.

27 Dec woman climbed up her hair to booth on the Avenue Enghelab in Tehran, waving his handkerchief like a flag. Her photos and video were widely distributed on social networks.

Activists reported that the woman was detained by police, released and then arrested again. The hashtag with the question, “Where is she?”Persian has been used on Twitter more than 28 thousand times.
