Trump: Israel will have to pay for a U.S. decision on Jerusalem
DAVOS, January 25. /TASS/. Israel will pay for what the US has decided to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish state. This was during a bilateral meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of the world economic forum in Davos, said the American President Donald trump.

“I would say that the most difficult topic that they [Israelis and Palestinians] would have had to discuss, was Jerusalem. We removed this question from the agenda,” said trump. “You win one point and you have to give some points later in the negotiations, if they ever will happen,” he said, referring to Netanyahu.
The head of state claimed that he “helped” the process of settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. “Israel will pay for this”, — claimed the President. “They [the Israelis] want peace, and I hope also the Palestinians want to achieve this. And if they succeed, in the end, all will be very happy,” he concluded.
Trump on December 6 last year stated that the time has come to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and gave the order to begin preparations for the transfer of the American Embassy in this city from tel Aviv. The status of Jerusalem is one of the key problems in Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Israel occupied the Eastern part of the city during the 1967 war and insist that Jerusalem is “one and indivisible” capital of Israel.
In response to decision trump the UN General Assembly on 21 December last year by a majority of 128 votes, adopted a resolution against the recognition of the city as the capital of the Jewish state. Against the document were made by nine countries: Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, United States and Slovenia, another 35 abstained.
