Macron considers it necessary to adopt a law on the struggle with false news
The French President stressed that such protection was “especially necessary in the pre-election period”.
PARIS, January 3. /TASS/. The French President called for the development and adoption of a law on countering false news on the Internet. He stated this on Wednesday, speaking at the Elysee Palace in front of members of the presidential press Association.
“We will modify French legislation in order to protect the democratic life of the false news,” said the French President. He stressed that such protection was “especially necessary in the pre-election period”.
Macron also said that “until the end of 2018,” the government will present a bill on public audio-visual means. For this purpose, “at the end of the first quarter of 2018 will be made and structured based on the digital data of the proposals on the basis of which it will be possible to develop a scenario of converting the media.”
“These proposals will be widely debated by industry professionals,” — said the French leader.
