BRUSSELS, 15 Feb — RIA Novosti. The EU countries are planning in the coming years to jointly Fund defence research, covering all areas on land, sea, air and space, and in cyberspace, said on Friday at the Munich conference the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini.
“The European program of military-industrial development supports the development of opportunities in all areas, from space to the Earth and the sea, land and cyberspace. In 2020 Europe’s defense Fund will allow us to increase funding to support capacity development to 13 billion euros over seven years”, — said Mogherini, a performance that was broadcast on the conference website.
The European Commission had proposed earlier in the budget period of the EU from 2021 to 2027 to increase investment in security by 40%, and also to create a European defence Fund.
The EU looks forward thanks to investments from the General Fund to go to one of the four largest investors in defence research and technology in Europe.
It is envisaged that the budget for the period 2021-2027 years 4.1 billion euros will be allocated to support “competitive and collaborative research projects.” In addition to the investments of member States is highlighted, due to the joint financing of the expenses of 8.9 billion euros for the development of prototypes and related requirements in the field of certification and testing.
