In Armenia the ruling party refused to nominate a candidate for the post of Prime Minister

Moscow. April 28. INTERFAX.RU — Armenia’s Ruling Republican party, whose leader is former President of the Republic and ex-Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan, will not nominate a candidate for the presidency of the new government, said Saturday the Vice-speaker of the Parliament, press-Secretary of the party Eduard Sharmazanov.
“Meeting with former Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan and acting Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan. The meeting agenda was one issue — the political situation and position on the elections of the Prime Minister,” Sharmazanov told journalists.
The Republican party decided not to nominate a candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Armenia. According to Sharmazanov, the party is guided exclusively by the interests of the state.
“It is a conscious decision. When they nominated all the candidates, we will make a decision based on our discussions. We have time until 18:00 on April 30. At the moment we do not know if there are other candidates for the post of Prime Minister, except Nikol Pashinyan (the leader of the protest movement, the leader of the opposition parliamentary faction “EFC” — if)”, — said Vice-speaker of the Armenian Parliament.

From 13 April in Yerevan and other cities of Armenia took place many thousands of round-the-clock rallies and protests against the appointment of ex-President Serzh Sargsyan to the post of Prime Minister. At the head of protests arose opposition MP Pashinyan. 23 APR Sargsyan has resigned, interim Prime Minister of Armenia, was appointed the representative of the ruling Republican party Karen Karapetyan.
