In the ranking of “Reporters without borders” Russia remained on the 148th place out of 180 possible.

In the international organization “reporters without borders” (RSF) believe that Russia has a “clear stagnation” freedom of the press. According to the authors of the annual ranking of RBG, the Russian authorities “tightened control over the Internet, starting an attack on the messengers and increasing the pressure on search engines and ways to circumvent blocking and censorship”. RF is the ranking below most post-Soviet countries, many African countries, Venezuela and Afghanistan.

Russia retained the 148 th place in the ranking (in total 180 positions), “reporters without borders” (the same was the position of our country in the 2017 and 2016). In RBG talking about the “world of degradation the freedom of the press”, and the situation in Russia is characterized as a “clear stagnation”:

At no time since the collapse of the USSR in this country at the same time was not in custody such a large number of journalists and bloggers.

“While the media is largely controlled by Pro-Kremlin oligarchs, there is a growing pressure on the independent press and journalists involved in the investigation”, — stated in the RSF statement on the situation in the former Soviet Union and Turkey. In the organization indicate that Russian authorities “have further strengthened the control over the Internet, starting an attack on the messengers and enhanced at the legislative level, the pressure on search engines and ways to circumvent blocking and censorship”. Chechnya and the Crimea in the RSF called the territories, which were almost completely stripped “from all those who allow themselves to critical statements”.

“All this does not prevent Moscow to assert itself on the international stage as an alternative model in the field of information”, — stated in the statement.

Note that Russia is in the ranking below Russia (143rd place), many African countries, e.g. Zimbabwe (126th place), Zambia (113th), Nigeria (119th).

Afghanistan is a 118-th place. Armenia, where there are protests — 80s. the USA is on the 45th place (last year held the 43-th position).

The ranking is headed by Norway, on the second and third place are Sweden and the Netherlands.

180 the last place is North Korea.
