The Ministry of health called the five regions with the lowest mortality rate. The highest mortality was recorded in the Pskov region (of 17.4 cases per 1 thousand population), Novgorod (17,1), Tver (16,9), Tula (16,5), Ivanovo (15,8).
The average mortality rate in the country last year fell by 3.9% — to 12.4 cases per 1 thousand population. Total in Russia last year passed away 1.8 million people, or 63.6 per thousand less than in 2016.
