Azarov said that the FBI is investigating the embezzlement of credit funds to Ukraine
KYIV, February 17 — RIA Novosti. Ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said that the FBI is investigating the embezzlement of credit funds to Ukraine.
“Last year, for example, withdrew from the country three billion dollars. Where I got this information? Invented? No, I’m not, I took the information of the NBU (national Bank of Ukraine — ed.) looked to current account and calmly calculated: it turns out that Ukraine took two billion of some credit resources from the IMF (International monetary Fund — ed.) and a billion in the world Bank — three, and brought 3.5 billion. Where brought? In the offshore,” — said Azarov in interview to TV channel “112 Ukraine”.
He also said that, according to him, foreign creditors are concerned about this and are checking.
“Foreign partners have many times made the remark to the Kiev regime and warned: guys, be careful with the money we give you. And I know that is under investigation, now the Federal Bureau of investigation is engaged in it…” — said Azarov.
The IMF Board of Directors in December 2018 approved a new credit stand-by program for Kyiv, according to which Ukraine will receive $ 3.9 bn. The period of its implementation is 14 months. While $ 1.4 billion by the decision of the Fund were paid in December 2018, and the remaining funds will be available at the biannual reviews. According to the report of the Fund in Ukraine, Kyiv in 2019 will receive two tranches at $ 1.3 billion on may 15 and November 15.
