“Guarantee choice”: how was the first meeting of the contact group in Venezuela
MOSCOW, 7 Feb — RIA Novosti. In Montevideo hosted the first meeting of the contact group in Venezuela, which was organized by Uruguay and Mexico.

The final statement was read out by the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini. According to her, the contact group intends to work on safeguards of the electoral process in the Bolivarian Republic.
In particular, it is planned to direct in-country technical mission. Mogherini stressed that the crisis in Venezuela should be resolved without violence.
The next meeting will be held in early March at the Ministerial level. It is planned to assess the progress in dealing with the situation in the Latin American Republic.
The sharp U.S. reaction
Almost immediately after the meeting the US opposed the contact group.
The special representative of Washington on the situation in Venezuela Elliott Abrams demanded that the country only dealt with Juan, Guido as interim President.
