In Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk abolished the direct election of mayors

Moscow. 7 Feb. INTERFAX.RU — the head of the Kemerovo region Sergey Tsivilev signed in late January by the regional Parliament a law abolishing the elections of the heads of the two cities of Kuzbass after the end of their powers.

In the decree, published on the portal of the regional administration, says about the annulment of two provisions of the law of Kemerovo region “On some issues of organization and activity of local self-government bodies of municipal formations”.

In repealed clause 4, article 2 stated that “the head of the municipal district specified in accordance with the Charter of Kemerovo oblast administrative center of the Kemerovo region (Kemerovo — if) elected at municipal elections on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot and heads the local administration.”

In clause 5, article 2 stated that in the same way elected head of cities with population over 500 thousand people or city, which houses the regional court. The only such settlement in the region, except the city of Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk is.

In Novokuznetsk the elections for the post of mayor for a period of five years in 2018. The winner was Sergey Kuznetsov who has served since 2013.

The head of the city of Kemerovo in 2016 for a period of five years, was elected Ilya Seredyuk.
