In the suburbs found built 4500 years ago, the necropolis
The staff of the Institute of archeology found in the suburbs of necropolis of representatives of the fatyanovo culture, which was built 4.5 thousand years ago. As reported in the press release received by the editors N+1, in burials, archaeologists found a perfectly preserved battle axes, javelins, arrowheads, and ceramic burial vessels.
Fatyanovo culture existed in Central Russia in the second half of the third to mid-second Millennium BC. Researchers consider it a local variant of the corded ware culture (also known as the battle axe culture) spread in the Eastern and Central Europe.
Presumably, the fatyanovo people came from the West, from the territories of modern Belarus and Lithuania.
They were no longer just hunter-gatherers, although hunting and fishing is, apparently, played a large role in their economy. They raised pigs, goats, cows, sheep and horses may have engaged in agriculture, knew how to smelt copper and bronze. Representatives of the fatyanovo culture kept pet dogs, they moved on four-wheeled carts and two-wheeled carts. These people built a fortified settlement on the banks of rivers, but whether they lived in them permanently, or moved is unknown.
By the time of the emergence of the fatyanovo people in the territory between the Volga and the Oka, living representatives of the Volosovo culture — hunters and fishermen. The door of the fatyanovo people and volosivtsi was not always peaceful; the researchers found the burial of the fatyanovo people, probably killed by volosivtsi. Their bodies stuck the tips of volosovskiy arrows. The disappearance tatyanovka tribes archaeologists associated with assimilation with other tribes who appeared in the North-Western part of Russia after them. According to another version fatyanovo people and volosivtsi dying as a result of the exchange of infections.
Previously unknown necropolis is an archaeological monument of “Pavlovskaya Sloboda”, found in the Istra district of the Moscow region during security work, before the construction of a private children’s center. Now extensively excavated, but researchers have found a well-preserved flint arrowheads of javelins and an axe a wedge is made of polished flint, flint plates, which, apparently, was used as a knife blade, funerary vessels with ornament in form of twisted cord. In the graves was found a stone battle-axes made of diorite, weighing about 800 grams, which were exact copies of the bronze axes.
This is a battle-axe, which was used in the war: they were crushed the head of the enemy. The axe is heavy, and coupled with a long handle is a terrible weapon. There are many graves with broken skulls, and underestimate the power of these things is impossible: if such a “Tomahawk” to get to any part of the skull, the man’s instant death.Asya Aroutiounian Director for science, RAS IA
According to archaeologists, the finds were extremely rare, before the monuments of the fatyanovo culture on the territory of Moscow region found in the middle of the last century. “On the monument, “Pavlovskaya Sloboda” has already obtained dozens of samples of wood ashes and coal from the ceiling of the burial chamber, to allow for radiocarbon Dating and for the first time precisely dated petanovski burial ground. We will be able to compare the dates obtained from the databases of the European shnurovym cultures and reliably determine the location of the fatyanovo people in this community,” explains Engovatova.
After the completion of archaeological works, the organizers of the children’s center are planning to create on its territory the exhibition of the artifacts.
