Dutch photographer Suzanne Jongmans creates portraits in the style of old masters paintings. From these works one feature — the quality of the costumes and draperies, the artist uses plastic packaging and polyethylene.

“When you look at the old masters, you can feel the era, as reflected in the paintings, she says. And the method I have developed, meets this principle.”

In the photos Jongmans encrypted obvious environmental message. But her main goal, says Suzanne, is to breathe new life into old, unwanted materials.
“I’m mostly a collector — I collect all sorts of things, such as scraps of wool, some of the findings from the street. And I wish all of these materials told a story”.
