Explained high salaries of deputies
High salaries of deputies “due to the nature of their activities.” To this conclusion came the Russian government, citing the rejection of the bill equating the salaries of senators and of deputies to the national average — 35 thousand rubles, reports RIA Novosti.
According to the Agency, the government referred to the position of the constitutional court, according to which restrictions on employment other, in addition to parliamentary, paid activities — “accepted in the legal States with developed traditions of democracy and parliamentary activities principle”.
As pointed out in the Cabinet, “deputies and senators are obliged to fully and effectively participate in parliamentary activities, above all in the legislative process.”
The bill equating parliamentary salary to the average for Russia submitted to the state Duma “Fair Russia”.
The authors of the document pointed out that the senators and deputies receive the same as Federal Ministers, and in 2016, the salaries of parliamentarians is several times higher than average in Russia.
The salary of the Deputy of the state Duma is about 384 thousand rubles per month. In 2016, the Deputy speaker of the state Duma from LDPR Igor Lebedev has suggested to pay deputies for additional working hours spent in plenary sessions.
