Russia initiated the meeting of the UN security Council on the issue of threats to international peace

Moscow. April 8. INTERFAX.RU — the UN Security Council in the second half of the day Monday at the initiative of the Russian Federation held a session on “threats to international peace and security”, reported “Interfax” the press Secretary of the permanent mission of the Russian Federation at the world organization Fedor Strzygowski.

“Tomorrow at 15:00 members of the UN Security Council will meet on the initiative of Russia in order to discuss threats to international peace and security,” he said, adding that “immediately after the meeting there will be a second”.

Previously the British permanent mission to the UN said that the UK, France, USA, and a number of non-permanent members of the security Council had requested a Council meeting to discuss data about possible chemical attack in the Syrian city of Duma.

“Britain, France, USA, Poland, Netherlands, Sweden, Kuwait, Peru and ivory coast have been asked to hold an emergency UN security Council meeting to discuss reports of the use of chemical weapons in Syria. It is expected that the meeting will be held on Monday,” — noted in the message.
