Saakashvili has issued a document on the legality of stay in Ukraine
KIEV, November 7. /TASS/. Deprived of Ukrainian citizenship to ex-President of Georgia and former Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili got the right to stay in Ukraine on legal grounds. This was the politician said on his page in Facebook.
“Today finally received from the migration service a document that certifies that I reside in Ukraine legally. Of course, I’m not satisfied with, and seeking through the court to restore my citizenship,” he wrote.
After the resignation from a post of the Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili seemed to leave Ukraine and was almost immediately deprived of Ukrainian citizenship, which he at the time gave the President personally Poroshenko.
Not being able to return legally Saakashvili in early September with the support of colleagues was able to illegally break into Ukraine and was accused of illegal border crossing. Immediately thereafter he applied to the migration service for the status of the citizen who needs extra protection, has asked for political asylum.
However, the State migration service of Ukraine refused him, and the Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko said that now there are no circumstances that impede the extradition of the controversial policy in Georgia. In response, Saakashvili appealed the decision of the migration service. Claim consideration is appointed to December 12.
