“Seen in the Kremlin these statements, he said. You know that a number of countries, including the UK, is very two-faced stance in terms of international counter money laundering. On the one hand, involved in all the conventions, and on the other hand are actually on their territory, they have such gaps (loopholes) financial and tax, such as offshore. Such statements were misleading”.
As for the origin of these funds, according to Peskov, “you need to look in each specific case”.
“In itself, the placement of funds in such gaps is not illegal and this should be considered, he said. — But if the facilities themselves are at the origin of illegal proceeds, that’s a different story.”
He reminded that the relevant authorities of the Russian Federation in cooperation with international entities “are these unclean money and income in an implacable struggle.”
Previously, the newspaper the Times reported that members of the British Parliament meets next week to vote for the adoption of laws in accordance with which will be revealed including the identity of the Russian oligarchs, and keeping the capital of the British overseas territories. According to the publication, to date such tax havens as the British virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands, unlike the UK, did not disclose to the public the identity of the beneficiaries of the assets held under their jurisdiction.
