The investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case of negligence against the captain of the guard of firefighting and rescue unit № 2 by Sergei Genin in the case of the fire in the shopping center “Winter cherry” in Kemerovo, reported TFR spokesman Svetlana Petrenko.

According to investigators, Genin, as commander of gas and smoke protective service, together with his subordinates, entered the burning building of the shopping center through the West entrance. One of the witnesses told him about staying on the fourth floor in cinema room number 2 large number of people and pointed at a stairway located at the West entrance, as the shortest path.
It is noted that the Genin ignored this information and did not compare it with an existing plan-schemes by sending a link to the far from his the location of the staircase in the South-Eastern part of the building. Later, when he reached the fourth floor, they found a locked door and returned to the stairs at the West entrance, which were on the fourth floor.
“The fire service staff had lost time that could be used to rescue and evacuate people to a safe place. The result of the negligent actions of Genin killed at least 37 people who were at the time of the fire on the 4th floor of the Mall “Winter cherry” in the cinema hall № 2″, — said Petrenko.
She also noted that place of residence Genina being searched, and soon he will be arrested.
March 25 in the shopping center “Winter cherry” in Kemerovo there was a fire. According to official reports, the fire killed 64 people, including children.
