The court banned the visitors to a German zoo to swim with crocodiles
The court in the German state of Hesse has forbidden underage zoo visitors in Friedberg to swim with crocodiles. On 2 November, according to local newspaper Hessenschau.
In late August, the environmental authorities of Darmstadt prohibited to keep reptiles in terrariums, in which there is no special barrier. They decided that visitors to the zoos can get close to the animals, but only if the staff explained all the rules and warned of the danger.
Petting zoo “Crocodile” in which visitors can pet, feed reptiles and swim with them, opposed the decision. The zoo management explained that there live reptiles and manual nothing wrong with the visitors didn’t happen.
On 2 November, the Darmstadt district court rejected the claim and decided to change the rules of the zoo. The judge decided that to get closer to the crocodiles and swim with them can only adult visitors.
Zoo Crocodile opened in 2001, and since then it is one of the most popular places to travel in Friedberg. Not only tourists, but locals often come to the crocodiles. Swimming with the reptiles only under the supervision of an instructor and in a wetsuit. In addition to crocodiles in the zoo, live snakes and turtles, which can be photographed.
