Died writer Vladimir Makanin
MOSCOW, Nov 2 — RIA Novosti. Soviet and Russian writer Vladimir Makanin, author of the novels “the Underground or Hero of our time” and “Two sisters and Kandinsky” has died on 81-m to year of life, he will be buried in the village of Red, near Rostov-on-don, the press service of the publishing house “Eksmo”.
“Vladimir Semenovich Makanin died at home, November 1, in the village of Red, near Rostov-on-don. The last few years was sick. The funeral will take place on 3 November near the house, in the village cemetery. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, two grandchildren and a great-grandson or great-granddaughter”, — said the press service.
Soviet and Russian writer Vladimir Makanin is the recipient of numerous literary awards, including the “Big book”, “Russian Booker”, “Penne” (Italy), the European prize for literature, the Pushkin prize of the Toepfer Foundation (Germany), prize “Yasnaya Polyana” and others.
His first novel “Direct line” was published in 1965, also he is the author of the book “the forerunner”, “Underground or Hero of our time”, “Two sisters and Kandinsky” as well as numerous collections of short stories and novellas.
“It wasn’t like none of his contemporaries: and in style, and always went his own way. A mathematician by education first, he combined in his prose cold clarity of thought and warmth of heart. He created a unique artistic world, which became the subject of many theses,” — said the head of the Department of modern literature of publishing house “Eksmo” Olga Aminova, quoted in a press-service.
She stressed that the demise of such a powerful writer as Makanin “Atlas reshapes Russian literature.”
