Scientists have suggested look like aliens
MOSCOW, 1 Nov — RIA Novosti. Alien life forms can be much more similar to earth than commonly believed, say researchers from the University of Oxford. Their study was published in the journal International Journal of Astrobiology.
Previous research in the field of astrobiology — the science that studies life beyond the Earth — were mostly attempts to mechanically move our knowledge of life on our planet for the inhabitants of other worlds, said one of the study’s authors Sam Levin. “In our work we propose another approach is to use the theory of evolution abstracted from the “earthly” details”, — quotes the scholar website of the University of Oxford.
According to the authors of the study, the development of life in the Universe is determined by the same processes and mechanisms as on the Ground — for example, natural selection. On our planet the diversity of species increased after a major evolutionary transition from the lower stage to the higher — an example is the fusion of individual cells in a multicellular organism. Both theory and empirical observations confirm, that the implementation of such a crossing requires extreme conditions.
If such evolutionary processes take place not only on Earth, with a certain probability we can assume that the evolution on other planets do their inhabitants are similar to humans, scientists believe.
“We can’t tell whether the aliens walk on two legs or have big green eyes. But, in our view, evolutionary theory is a unique tool in order to try to understand what they will be,” concluded Levin.
