The Pentagon reported about 11 thousands of U.S. troops in Afghanistan
Before officially talked about 8,5 thousand.
Moscow. August 30. INTERFAX.RU — the Pentagon has officially said the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan — their country is now about 11 million, according to CNBC.
This is 2.5 thousand more than the official figure, which was called under the previous administration — 8400. The Pentagon said that we are not talking about increasing the contingent, but only on updated data.
As noted by CNBC, the military command constantly shuffles troops, some of which are considered “temporary” so as not to exceed the established limit and not to cause public outrage.
However, as previously reported, American troops in Afghanistan could soon rise by another 4 thousand people.
Pentagon spokesman Dana white refused to provide data on the size of the U.S. military in Iraq and Syria, which, according to the media, also significantly higher than the official figures.
