The Russian Defense Ministry offered to protect satellites with sticky shells

TASS: the Russian military offered to protect satellites with sticky shells Protect the earth from space debris with sticky projectiles. TASS reports on the corresponding patent of the Russian military.

“The method provides for a kinetic effect on dangerous objects with special projectiles fired from an electromagnetic (rail) accelerator launched into orbit by a spacecraft,” the document says.

According to the patent, plastic and sticky projectiles must attach to a dangerous object, changing the trajectory of its movement. The corresponding installation, which fires projectiles, is proposed to be placed “in the appropriate orbit of the Earth.” Solar batteries must be used to power the apparatus.
