FSMTC Director Shugaev: military-technical cooperation with Turkey is developing steadily

Currently, negotiations between Russia and Turkey on joint development of weapons are ongoing. Dmitry Shugaev, Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of Russia, told Interfax.

He noted that military-technical cooperation with Turkey is developing steadily. In particular, discussions are continuing on the supply of Russian military products. In addition, according to Shugaev, many countries in the region are showing interest in the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system.

In August 2020, Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheev said during the Army-2020 forum that Moscow and Ankara signed a contract for the supply of the second regiment of S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems.

In September 2020, UEC-Klimov executive director Alexander Vatagin announced that Russia is producing the R -33 MiG-29 and MiG-35 aircraft, which Turkey may need for the TF-X fighter it is creating.
