Malaysia withdrew its Ambassador from North Korea because of the murder of Kim Jong-Nam
The foreign Ministry of Malaysia issued a statement in which it reported on the temporary recall of Ambassador to this country from Korea for consultations in light of the scandal unfolding between the two countries around the investigation of the murder of Kim Jong-Nam.
At the same time the foreign Ministry had summoned the Ambassador of the DPRK in Kuala Lumpur. The cause was a North Korean diplomat, said during a press conference on February 17, reported on the website of the foreign Ministry of Malaysia.
During the press conference, the Ambassador accused the Malaysian government of “hiding facts” related to the death of a citizen of the DPRK at the airport of Kuala Lumpur. The North Korean representative also said that the Malaysian authorities are on this issue “in collusion with outside forces”.
In his statement on this issue the foreign Ministry stated that since the death of the citizen of the DPRK arrived in Malaysia under suspicious circumstances, authorities are required to establish the cause.
The investigation is carried out in full compliance with local laws, and after its completion the body will be transferred to next of kin
Malaysian authorities fully and promptly inform the Embassy of the DPRK on the progress of the investigation and in this respect, I think the Ambassador’s statements are completely unfounded, said the foreign Ministry of Malaysia.
Kim Jong Nam, who was the half-brother of the current leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-UN and the last few years living abroad, was killed on February 13. He felt ill at the airport of Kuala Lumpur and died on the way to the hospital. The cause of death of the brother of the leader of the DPRK is still not clear as the motive for the killing. The Malaysian police have arrested four suspects in the case, including two women, and looking for four others who allegedly left Malaysia the day of the murder.
Investigators believe that accomplices of the killers were immigrants from North Korea. While the arrested suspects claim that the murder did not commit, and participated in the filming of the drawing.
