Poroshenko flew to Kiev for trial in the case of treason

According to the portal, the plane with Poroshenko on board took off at 7:48 Kyiv time (8:00 am) 48 Moscow time). The arrival of the flight with the ex-president to the capital of Ukraine is expected at 9:05 local time (10:05 Moscow time), follows from the data of the Kiev airport.

Poroshenko will arrive in Ukraine to participate in a court hearing at the petition of the country's Prosecutor General's Office for his arrest. The hearing will begin at the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv on January 17 at 11:00 am (12:00 Moscow time), two hours after the plane landed. The state prosecution intends to demand that the ex-president be taken into custody with the possibility of making bail in the amount of 1 billion hryvnias (about $37 million). Earlier, on January 6, the court had already seized Poroshenko's property and assets.

The former president is charged with financing terrorism and high treason, as well as the creation of a terrorist organization (part 1 and part 3 of article 258 & minus; 5, part 1 of article & nbsp; 111, part 1 of article 258 & minus; 3 of the Criminal Code & nbsp; Ukraine). Poroshenko faces up to 15 years in prison under these articles. According to the investigation, during his tenure as president, he entered into a collusion with the authorities of Russia and the self-proclaimed DNR and LNR, forming a scheme for exporting Donbass coal to Ukraine. Investigators are sure that according to this scheme the brought coal to 1.5 billion hryvnia (4 billion rubles) to Ukraine.

On the eve of the flight, Poroshenko said that he sees no grounds for arrest. "Will detain me? I'm telling you no!  — he pointed out.
