German astronaut Mathias Maurer shared photos of snow-covered Russia taken on board the International Space Station.

On Christmas Day according to the Julian calendar , he wrote: “It’s time to share some winter impressions of the winding rivers and frozen landscapes in eastern Russia. Unfortunately, I can’t say exactly where it is, but the beauty of nature is breathtaking.”

Earlier, Russian cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov showed how the Alps, the Caucasus Mountains and Crimea in the snow.
