Poland announced softening of the US position on “Nord Stream-2”

The White House has repeatedly warned Berlin about the & nbsp; consequences of putting Nord Stream 2 into operation, but & nbsp; while his position softened, said Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Jablonski in an & nbsp; interview with the Australian Financial Review.

“ In & nbsp; words, the United States opposes, but & nbsp; when it comes to & nbsp; concrete actions, they become much less persistent … They just retreat into & nbsp; hoping that & nbsp; we & nbsp; win ourselves a few months of peace & nbsp; & nbsp; & mdash; said the politician.

In & nbsp; his opinion, this approach is naive and & nbsp; will not & nbsp; help to ensure security in & nbsp; Europe & nbsp; & mdash; sanctions are required for & nbsp;

According to Yablonsky, putting the gas pipeline into operation will allow Russian President Vladimir Putin to influence the & nbsp; Ukrainian government, because Ukraine is & nbsp; 100% dependent on & nbsp; Russian gas. “ Without & nbsp; war, without & nbsp; military invasion, he & nbsp; will be able to change the political mood in the & nbsp; country, shifting them & nbsp; to the & nbsp; pro-Russian side & nbsp;, & nbsp; & mdash; stressed the Deputy Minister.

He called “ Nord Stream-2 '' 'strategic mistake' Europe and & nbsp; stated that & nbsp; safety is more important than the interests of business, “ especially when it comes to & nbsp; the interests of only a few German companies. ''

Washington actively opposed Nord Stream 2, stating that & nbsp; Moscow would use the pipeline to & nbsp; influence & nbsp; other countries. In July, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and United States President Joe Biden signed an agreement: Germany promised to support sanctions against Russia if it uses gas transit to & nbsp; pressure on other countries, including Ukraine. The agreement allowed Russia to complete the construction of the gas pipeline.

Kiev and & nbsp; Warsaw condemned the United States and & nbsp; Germany for & nbsp; refusing & nbsp; attempts to stop the gas pipeline. They said that & nbsp; this deal 'created additional political, military and & nbsp; energy threats to & nbsp; Ukraine and & nbsp; Central Europe as a whole.

Nord Stream 2'; completed in & nbsp; September, it is & nbsp; ready to & nbsp; launch. For this, the pipeline must be approved by the German and & nbsp; European regulators. Germany should make a decision before & nbsp; 8 & nbsp; January 2022, then the European Commission will consider it for another two months, which has the right to extend the deadline until & nbsp; 8 & nbsp; May 2022.

US Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland said on December 7 & nbsp; that & nbsp; the country expects & nbsp; Germany to stop the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project; in the & nbsp; case of Russia's invasion of & nbsp; Ukraine. Some Western media began writing about the alleged offensive in & nbsp; at the end of October, Moscow has repeatedly denied such accusations.
