The explosion at the station happened on November 28. As a result of the depressurization of the boiler of the seventh power unit of the TPP, a gas-steam mixture was released. The accident was eliminated by the emergency service personnel, the power unit was put out of action. The explosion injured several people, most of them received burns of varying severity. All of them were taken to medical facilities in the capital of the region, the city of Ivano-Frankivsk.

The hardest hit was the lineman, who received up to 60 percent of body burns. He was taken to the regional burn center, where he received round-the-clock assistance from doctors. The station reported that they supplied the doctors with all the necessary medicines.

The enterprise belongs to the energy company DTEK of the Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov.
