Political Scientist Explains US “Psychological Trick” Against China

Political scientist Solonnikov allowed other countries to boycott the Olympics after the United States competition country, said political scientist and director of the Institute of Contemporary State Development Dmitry Solonnikov, writes Izvestia.

According to him, international sports competitions have repeatedly become an arena where countries “measured the size of their ideological ambitions.” He called this decision a “psychological trick” against Beijing.

Solonnikov admitted that other countries, following the US, could boycott the Olympics. “This will most likely affect a number of other representatives of the diplomatic corps of the world, who are attentively listening to the United States and are actually in a morally subordinate position,” he explained.

According to the expert, the host country of the Olympics is always interested in a large number of guests, as this allows organizing negotiations at different levels, demonstrating its image in international circles.

Earlier, the White House said that the US leadership would not go to the Olympics, which will be held in Beijing from 4 to 20 February 2022. American athletes were allowed to make their own decisions about participation in the Games.
