SBU Colonel Starikov: Ukraine needs to go to the EU or join the United Kingdom
Kiev needs to decide whether to join the European Union (EU ) or join the United Kingdom. Oleg Starikov, a retired colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), made such a proposal on the air of the NASH TV channel, RIA Novosti reports.
“We must first of all decide: either we are going to the European Union, or we are going to … United Kingdom? I am personally for. Let's call ourselves the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ukraine. I am in favor, “- said the military expert.
Starikov also proposed to be called the fifty-first state of the United States. He added that Kiev considers Great Britain and the United States as landmarks, but at the same time regularly expresses its intentions to join the European Union.
According to him, Europeans are shocked that the main currency in Ukraine is the dollar, and not euro. The retired colonel did not indicate why he considers the national currency not the hryvnia.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that NATO countries are ready to expand cooperation with the Ukrainian side in the military-technical sphere. He also noted that the alliance is ready to send “clear signals” to Moscow that any wave of armed aggression against Kiev will become an “unbearable burden” for it.
