Next UFC Lightweight Championship Contender Named

UFC head Dana White: Justin Gagee gets a chance to fight for the championship belt

The head of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) reveals plans for Dane White lightweight division. The promoter was a guest on The Jim Rome Podcast.

White noted that American Justin Gage should be the next contender for the UFC lightweight title. “As long as everyone is healthy and the situation does not change, it is he who should fight for the belt next,” he admitted. White noted that Gage showed his best side in the duel with Michael Chandler. According to the promoter, their fight at UFC 268 was one of the greatest in history. Gagee won it by a decision.

The current belt holder is Brazilian Charles Oliveira. On December 12, he will defend his title in a duel against Dustin Poirier.

Irishman Conor McGregor also expressed his readiness to fight for the title after his return. He is expected to resume performing in the spring of 2022.

Gagee has already fought for the UFC lightweight title. In October 2020, he lost in a duel with Khabib Nurmagomedov.
