The Ukrainian GTS Operator called the Turkish Stream gas pipeline a Trojan horse of Russia Ukrainian gas transmission system operator Olga Belkova, in a report prepared at the request of the European Parliament, called the Turkish Stream gas pipeline a Trojan horse for Europe. “Energy-rich authoritarian states use their energy exports for economic gain, but also as an instrument of foreign policy influence,” wrote Belkova. In her opinion, Europe should stop pumping gas through this pipeline or require all parties to comply with the basic rules of the European Union.

Earlier it became known that Turkey was going to agree on an increase in gas purchases from Russia and has already begun negotiations with Gazprom … Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar said that the Turkish Stream gas pipeline has uncontracted capacities in 2022 in the amount of 9.75 billion cubic meters of gas, which Ankara would like to sell.

Turkish Stream was launched in early 2020. The gas pipeline's capacity is 31.5 billion cubic meters. In the first year, it was 43 percent utilized. In the first quarter of 2021, occupancy increased to 73 percent. The main gas suppliers to Turkey are Russia and Iran.
