US tightens entry rules for tourists due to coronavirus

US President Joe Biden: Foreign tourists must take PCR tests the emergence of a new strain of coronavirus. This is reported by the eTurboNews portal.

He announced that every traveler entering the republic must take a PCR test for COVID-19 within 24 hours after arrival.

It is noted that the innovation is spreading not only for foreign tourists, but also for diplomats, citizens and residents of the United States, regardless of vaccination status.

Since November 29, the US authorities have banned entry for travelers from eight African countries in connection with the spread of a new strain of coronavirus. Restrictions affected South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi.

The newest strain COVID-19 B.1.1.529 was identified in South Africa, it was assigned the Greek letter “omicron” (O ). Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) have recognized it as a threat. It may affect more people around the world, including those with other strains, and existing vaccines may not be effective.
