Russian priest was imprisoned for 2.5 years in prison for millions of scams

In the Rostov region, the court sentenced the abbot of the church for fraud in the amount of 7 million rubles the colony of the rector of the Church of St. George the Victorious Alexander Yakimov, who promised the parishioner to save her from prison for seven million rubles. According to the investigation, in 2019 the priest learned from a resident of the village of Kuleshovka, on the territory of which the temple was located, that that a criminal case was opened against her. The abbot told the woman that he would talk to the prosecutor, investigator and judge and give them a bribe so that they could mitigate the sentence. Yakimov set the amount of monetary remuneration for the security officials at four million rubles. On July 6, the woman gave the money to the priest.

Later, the rector informed her about the increase in the bribe to seven million rubles in order to free her from punishment for other episodes of crimes. The woman put money in the donation mug. However, the abbot was not going to help her, he embezzled the money.

The parishioner was found guilty of seven counts of fraud and sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.
