Altai will be temporarily banned from hunting ibex

The Altai Republic introduced a three-year moratorium on hunting ibex like ibex. This was reported by the National Accent portal with reference to the press service of the regional government.

The moratorium will be in effect for three years. During this time, the republic plans to conduct a full-scale census of the number of this species. Also, specialists will annually monitor changes in the ibex population and, based on the results obtained, make further decisions on the protection of these animals.

As noted, the moratorium was imposed on the images of the hunter along with the carcass of the dead mountain goat that appeared earlier in social networks. The photographs caused discontent among both specialists and local residents.

After this incident, the authorities conducted polls among residents of the regions of the republic where ibex live. As a result, 94 percent of respondents voted in favor of taking measures to preserve this animal, while 92 of them supported the introduction of a moratorium for three years, according to the official portal of the regional government.
