The Federation Council responded to the resolution of the US Congress on non-recognition of elections in Russia

Senator Klimov: the US resolution on non-recognition of the President of the Russian Federation is not related to democracy which the American congressmen are preparing has nothing to do with true democracy and has nothing to do with the rule of law. This is how the head of the Federation Council commission for the protection of state sovereignty, Andrei Klimov, answered him, writes RIA Novosti.

According to him, the United States congressmen are already working on a “scandalous resolution on how to stop the action” of the new version of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and who Russians need to elect their president in 2024, Klimov emphasized.

He noted that “such plans have nothing to do with true democracy, human rights, and the rule of law”. In addition, they contradict international law, including the UN Charter, the senator concluded.

Earlier, State Duma Deputy Mikhail Sheremet said that the appearance of a draft resolution of the US Congress on non-recognition of the results of the presidential elections in Russia in 2024, if they will be won by the current head of state, Vladimir Putin, says that Russia is governed by an authoritative leader who is respected all over the world.

On November 19, US Congressmen Steve Cohen and Joe Wilson submitted to the House of Representatives a resolution on non-recognition of the presidential election in Russia in 2024 in case Putin will participate in them. At the same time, it was noted that if this document is adopted, it will be of a recommendatory nature.
