Russians with high cholesterol were given advice on healthy eating

Nutritionist Bukin: if you have high cholesterol, you can't eat fatty meat, oils and egg yolks

named foods that should be avoided and which should be paid attention to people with high cholesterol levels in the body.

She noted that contrary to common misconceptions, cholesterol is found not only in the human body, but also in food: in the liver, brain, kidneys, meat, whole milk and other foods. According to the recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO), a healthy person should consume no more than 300 mg of cholesterol-containing foods per day, and a patient with high levels should consume less than 200 mg per day. Otherwise, the risk of strokes, heart attacks and other serious heart problems increases.

The doctor recommends focusing on fish, poultry and legumes in the diet. At the same time, in any case, it is worth removing fat from lean meats, and skin from chicken or turkey. It is best to reduce your beef, lamb and pork consumption to twice a week. Also, patients with high cholesterol should limit the consumption of egg yolks to 2-3 times a week, including in other meals.

From dairy products, according to Bukina, yoghurts, 1% kefir, 0-4% cottage cheese and white cheese are suitable for the diet. You should also support the body with fruits and vegetables, with the exception of potatoes: their vitamins and minerals remove cholesterol. For breakfast, you can cook porridge with walnuts, almonds, chestnuts and dried fruits, but without butter.

“You can’t eat sausage, sausages, smoked meats, hamburgers, hot dogs, bacon, pies and chips. It is also necessary to limit the liver, kidneys and other by-products in the diet, as well as confectionery, ice cream, ice cream, salt and sugar, “the nutritionist emphasized.

Previously, experts from the American Academy of Dermatological Association called an unusual symptom of a dangerous level cholesterol. Excess cholesterol can be indicated by the appearance of dark streaks under your fingernails or toenails, the researchers said. They are caused by damage to tiny blood vessels, but no physical pain is felt.
